A simple Italian fresh tomato sauce for pasta.
Sweat onion in pan with oil over medium heat.
Add garlic and cook briefly.
Add tomato and salt. Gently crush tomato, reduce heat to low, and simmer until sauce is thickened. Exact timing depends on the moisture of the tomatoes used.
Optionally process the sugo to a finer consistency.
Remove from heat, adjust salt, and stir in basil.
