A Turkish zeytinyağlı mezze made from runner beans.
Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Fry the onion, stirring occasionally, until softened.
Add the garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until garlic is very fragrant.
Stir in the beans, tomato, and water. Cover, bring to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
Remove lid and continue simmering until liquid has evaporated and beans are completely soft.
Remove from heat, adjust seasoning, replace cover, and let rest until room temperature. Serve drizzled with additional oil.
