A Balkan seafood dish of gnocchi and shrimp in a cream sauce.
Heat oil in a deep, large pan over medium heat. Add onion and fry until translucent.
Add shrimp and fry, stirring constantly, until just opaque.
Add garlic and frying until very fragrant. Immediately remove shrimp, leaving vegetables behind, to prevent over cooking.
Add gnocchi and water, stirring to incorporate. Simmer until gnocchi are al dente.
Stir in the breadcrumbs, wine, salt, and pepper. Continue simmering briefly to meld flavors.
Return shrimp to the sauce along with the cream and parsley. Continue simmering just long enough to heat through and meld flavors.
Made this tonight with home-made gnocchi, which were themselves rather salty. I don't think 1/4 tsp. salt in total is enough, but it doesn't need very much more. I think the breadcrumbs I used, which were seasoned, may have also included some salt. Overall this is nice, but I'm not particularly impressed.
