Description
This crab has a reddish-brown shell, legs, and claws with black tips. Growing to 6-9" in width, these crabs can weigh up to 3 kg, nearly a third of the weight being meat. This variety of crab is one of the most popular in the UK. When cooked, the shell takes a lighter shade of brown. The meat from female crabs is brown in color and has a rich flavor, while meat from male crabs is whiter with a sweeter flavor.
