Description

Similar in appearance to common chives, garlic chives have a delicate garlic flavor and broader, flat leaves. They tend to be used more as a vegetable than an herb. The tender buds sometimes present on the stalks can also be eaten. In Buddhist temple cuisine, garlic chives are one of the five forbidden vegetables, considered a stimulant that hinders spiritual meditation.
