Botanically, fruit is the reproductive portion of the plant, but this definition doesn't transfer to the world of cooking that easily. For the purposes of these recipes, fruit refers to any true fruit that is commonly referred to as fruit in recipes. Apples are considered fruit, but eggplants are not. In general, the fruits referred to here as 'fruit' are juicy and have relatively high sugar content.
